Dear Jewel,
You were 15 years old.
You were in the 10th grade.
You are currently upset over a bad report card.
I am writing this to simply give you the message- "Hang in there"
Jewel you have always been unique. After all it is in your name. but you have never felt unique. You have always felt less than ordinary.
You constantly compared yourself to others, and I do not blame you, after all it is hard to not compare yourself when you were raised with two people who have done nothing but put you down your entire life. They labelled you as dumb" because you flunked maths. They called you "lazy" and other harsh words.
But I am here to tell you that you are far more than your labels.
You are none of that.
You are a strong woman who will get through this phase even if it seems impossible.
One day I promise you that you will escape that situation.
One day you will move out of your home and go to a different place.
You will be surrounded by strangers.
But those strangers will provide you the comfort and support you have always craved.
And then you will be happy
And then you will thrive
And then you will shine
I promise you things will get better.
Take it one night at a time.
One step a time.
The journey of life is much longer than just that bad day.
With love,
An almost 20 year old Jewel
